Pax Christi Chorale Presents the Toronto Premiere of

Considering Matthew Shepard

Happening in the George Weston Recital Hall

In 1998, university student Matthew Shepard was targeted for his sexuality. He was kidnapped, tied to a fence, severely beaten and left to die in a lonely field.

Over twenty years later, Pax Christi Chorale presents the Toronto premiere of Craig Hella Johnson’s poignant and inspiring work Considering Matthew Shepard.

This fusion oratorio weaves a variety of musical styles seamlessly into a unified whole. Texts include passages from Matt’s personal journal, interviews and writings from his parents Judy and Dennis Shepard, newspaper reports and poetic writings.
